Carolyn Mark to play Winlaw this Friday

She is currently touring in support of her latest music project 'The Queen of Vancouver Island.'

Carolyn Mark will be playing at the Kayu’s Cafe in Winlaw on Friday, May 9, beginning at 8 p.m. She is currently touring in support of her latest music project The Queen of Vancouver Island.

Outspoken and  direct, Mark’s has been a favourite in the Slocan Valley for many years. Her music can be bright and sharp edged on an up-tempo song, or can slow right down so you feel each jagged beat of your breaking heart on her ballads.

She plays a unique blend of country alt-twang  which is so authentic it seems to come with its own direct link to Loretta Lynn’s ’60s heyday. Earlier on in her career she was a member of the popular Corn Sisters with Neko Case and has since gone on to release seven albums and performed extensively.

Kayu’s Cafe is located on Highway 6 in Winlaw. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 226-7374. To find out other upcoming shows visit kayuscafe.ca.
