A special remembrance concert called Cascadia Remembers: Honour and Celebrate is held Sunday, Nov. 8 in Abbotsford.

The concert, featuring the Cascadia Wind Ensemble with the music of the war years, starts at 2 p.m. at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium, 32315 South Fraser Way.

The concert is divided into two elements of commemoration – “Honour” those who have serve and “Celebrate” the great music from the war years.

The concert, under the direction of Shannon Goldsmith, will feature the cherished observance of the Sunset Ceremony, which has become the finale of military observances for over 100 years.

The band will also play the historic Colonel Bogey on Parade, Hoagy Carmichael in Concert, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy from the famous Andrew Sisters, a selection with chorus of Three Cheers for the Boys and Girls, and a contemporary tribute Highway of Heroes.

The band welcomse Chilliwack’s Philomusica Women’s Choir to the stage for this performance under the direction of Paula Quick.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for veterans, seniors and children. They are available at the door, King’s Music in Abbotsford and Chilliwack, or by calling 604-302-5480.
