Celebrated accordion player Jelena Milojevic is bringing her astounding talent to Chilliwack to help raise funds for a local opera troupe.
She is set to amaze audiences at the second of three benefit concerts, set for March 17 at St. Paul’s for Valley Opera’s Mozart Project.
Milojevic will be gracing local audiences with her electric presence and incredibly skillful technique twice this year.
“True music fans will not want to miss hearing this remarkable artist,” said organizer Paula DeWit. “She is utterly captivating. I performed with Jelena last spring and knew I had to get her to Chilliwack.”
She kept ticket prices very low to accommodate families.
“We want to pack the place.”
Milojevic is a world celebrated solo accordion player who debuted at Carnegie hall and went on to perform with and collaborate some of the best. Her performances have been described as “an explosion of cosmic sensuality” and she has been praised for her “brilliant virtuosity.”
While studying, the artist won nine international accordion competitions, as a soloist and chamber musician, including highly acclaimed contests in Pula, Croatia and Castelfidardo, Italy.
Her most prestigious accolade was winning one of most prestigious competitions for accordion artists, CMA world trophy 2003, in Italy.
In the summer of 2007, Jelena moved to Vancouver with her family. While there, she taught at Vancouver Community College, and performed throughout the West Coast.

Not only is the accordion artist performing a solo concert on March 17, 2012, She will also be performing with the Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra and Chorus on May 26.
