Celebrated musician at TOSH

Qualicum Beach-Pianist and author Pierre-André Doucet playing at TOSH Jan 19

One of Canada’s most distinctive and engaging young pianists is performing a solo recital at the Old School House Arts Centre Jan. 19.

Pianist and author Pierre-André Doucet has been praised for his sincere and colourful playing as well as for his modern and fascinating writing.

He will be playing this Sunday at TOSH as part of the Music on Sunday Series, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $16.

Doucet has performed with Symphony New Brunswick, Sinfonia de Lanaudière, and, as a collaborative pianist, with some of North America’s most prominent young vocalists. He has performed extensively across Canada and the United States, as well as in Germany, Belgium, Spain and France. Winner of the Knigge Music Competition (2013), the Atlantic Young Artist Competition (2010) and the Auditions jeunes artistes de Radio-Canada (2004/2006),  Doucet has also been awarded top prizes for his performances of contemporary works, both at the CFMTA National Piano Competition (2009), and most recently at the Ibiza International Piano Competition (2013).

Doucet is presently a doctoral candidate at l’Université de Montréal, where he studies under Maneli Pirzadeh.
