Sooke Folk Music Society is back this Saturday (March 18) with a pair of musicians who aim to bring warm Celtic tunes to your ears.
At once ancient sounding yet thoroughly modern, Jude Pelley and Charlie Wilson (Pennybrook) specialize in original instrumentals and old-fashioned songs, inspired by their love for Celtic music.
The Maritime musicians have been playing together for five years, crisscrossing Canada by train and vegetable-powered bus, as well as hosting an annual festival on Nova Scotia’s South Shore. They’ve played in every province and the Yukon Territory.
Their unique sound ranges from quietly contemplative to foot-stomping celebration.
They bring their maritime musical magic to the Sooke Folk Society Coffeehouse on Saturday at The Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 1962 Murray Rd.
Doors open at 7 p.m. with open stage at 7:30. Admission is $7 at the door ($5 for open mic performers). For more info, go to sookefolkmusicsociety.com.
