From caterpillars to Celtic music and dance, and violins to vampires, there is something for everyone at the Performing Arts Centre in the coming weeks:
On Saturday, the Kalamalka Highlanders Pipe Band and the Arran Campbell Memorial Pipe Band are on stage at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre to host their production of Ceilidh in the Valley.
Joining the Highlanders on stage will be guests from Kelowna and Salmon Arm including the Argyll Highland Dancers, the Sadok Ukrainian Dancers, Djembe Drummers, a Celtic choir and more. The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are on sale now through the Ticket Seller by calling 549-SHOW (7469).
The Okanagan Symphony Orchestra is at the Performing Arts Centre Nov. 16 for its performance of Gloria!
In a program that is all about purity of tone, the symphony is joined on stage by world-renowned chamber choir musica intima to perform a variety of repertoire from baroque to contemporary.

The first Christmas event at the centre is a darling children’s performance of Max and Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite.
Set on a snowy winter evening with Grandma telling the story of the Nutcracker, Treehouse TV/Nickelodeon characters Max and Ruby find themselves in an imaginative holiday adventure set to Tchaikovsky’s famous Nutcracker Suite.

The North Okanagan Community Concert Association’s Kaleidoscope season continues with their gala performance by Juno award winning Les Violons Du Roy Nov. 18. This 15-member string orchestra is well known across Canada and throughout the world. On Nov. 19, the Performing Arts Centre is host to Canada’s Celtic ambassadors, the Barra Macneils.
This Cape-Breton ensemble has been creating and performing music together for more than three decades. Multiple lead vocalists, beautiful harmonies and fantastic instrumental prowess, these siblings are bringing their popular East Coast Christmas performance full of seasonal fare mixed with entertaining stories and memories. Ballet Victoria (Cinderella, Carmen) returns to the Performing Arts Centre stage Nov. 21 for their production of Dracula.
Artistic director Paul Destrooper leads 12 talented dancers as they devour their luscious roles, reviving the timeless legend of Dracula with a neoclassical twist. Adding to the incredible costumes and dramatic sets and lighting will be a powerful soundtrack including Sia’s Chandelier, Elgar’s Cello Concerto and selections from Guardians of the Galaxy.

The young people in your life will love Mermaid Theatre’s production of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and other Eric Carle favourites.
Share in memories created or evoked by the stunning black-light puppets – faithful to the illustrations in the books – lighting up the stage, complemented by recorded narration by Canadian entertainment legend Gordon Pinsent.
