Canada’s best dancers are poised to spring into the competition dance festival season to win $150,000 in cash awards and Hollywood scholarships.
The Great Canadian Dance Challenge tours Canadian cities looking for the next up-and-coming dancers.
The GCDC is open to all dance studios in Canada and has a premier deck of prizes and adjudicators.
Dancers don’t have to be the best to win big at this event, as the adjudicators are looking for enthusiasm, passion and fun in their dancers, as much as meaningful performance and clean choreography.
“The calibre of dance at these events is typically outstanding,” says adjudicator Bill Prudich, executive director of Hollywood’s Edge Performing Arts Center.
“In fact, the events are so exciting and the dancers so entertaining that we are in our fifth season of awarding scholarships to Canada’s best emerging dancers to study with the world’s best choreographers at the Edge.”
The festival tour hits 15 locations across Canada, including May 9-13 and July 20-24 in Kelowna.
Dec. 15 is the early-bird discounted deadline for dancers to register online at www.showtimedancepromotions.com.
Businesses are encouraged to participate in this event. All monies raised locally go directly back into the local dance community, with the donors’ names included.
