Changes to Shuswap Canada Day plans

Due to multiple complications, the Shuswap Canada Day events, originally scheduled to take place in the Blind Bay area, have been postponed

Due to multiple complications, the Shuswap Canada Day events will not continue as planned.

As of June 28, the Canada Day celebrations that were originally scheduled to take place in the Blind Bay area on July 1 have been temporarily postponed.

The event website explains: “this decision was reached with much deliberation due to flooding, lack of accessibility and on the advice of the RCMP, CSRD and Emergency Services.”

The only event that will continue as planned is the Show and Shine, weather permitting.

It will not begin until 10 a.m. but the public is invited to arrive earlier as the Lion’s Club will be providing breakfast at 8 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Shuswap Canada Day Committee online notice concluded: “We are disappointed to have to postpone the event but also realize that we need to show wisdom and prudence.”
