Charlotte Diamond brings Four Hugs a Day

Beloved Canadian children's entertainer will share the stage with her son, Matt Diamon, at the Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre

B.C.’s own children’s music legend Charlotte Diamond is returning to the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Oct. 2 for a special family concert with her son, Matt Diamond. Charlotte Diamond is the first show in the Society`s brand new TD First Stages Series.

Recently appointed to the Order of Canada for her contributions to children’s music, Diamond is an internationally-recognized recording artist, composer and singer. With well-loved hits including Four Hugs a Day, I am a Pizza (Je suis une pizza) and many more, Diamond is one of Canada’s favourite family performers. She has toured throughout North and Central America and Europe, performing in English, French and Spanish. For this Vernon performance, she brings new songs from her 14th studio recording, Diamonds by the Sea.

TD First Stages is a new series crafted for our youngest patrons. Ages two and up can enjoy these gentle shows where a toddler’s enthusiasm is welcome! Of course, children and guardians of all ages are invited to share in Diamond’s delightful music as we kick off this exciting two-show series.

Diamond now has 14 albums and a multitude of awards and recognitions, including a Juno Award for her double platinum debut album, 10 Carrot Diamond. She received her most recent recognition June 30, when the Governor General appointed her to the Order of Canada.

At the concert on Oct. 2, Diamond will be accompanied by her son Matt on electric guitar. Matt has been performing on his own for several years, but is also his mother’s main accompanist.

The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre thanks the following sponsors for their generous support: TD, Kal Tire, 105.7 SUN FM, The Morning Star, the Okanagan Advertiser, the British Columbia Arts Council and the Government of Canada.

Charlotte Diamond plays the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Sunday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $12 for all ages, available through the Ticket Seller at 549-SHOW (7469) or online at www.ticketseller.ca.
