The 2016 Community Arts Council is ready to greet some new faces at its AGM for 2017.

Check out Community Art Council’s AGM

The public is invited to hear keynote speaker Theresa Kingston, see what arts council has been up to.

Join members of the Community Arts Council Thursday, Feb. 23 at the AV Museum, for the AGM at 7 p.m.

We are excited to have guest speaker, city director of community services Theresa Kingston, who will be talking about arts, culture and heritage in the Alberni Valley. If you are a patron of the arts or artist and would like to be involved with a non-profit community arts organization, join us for the evening. We are always looking for new members and welcome everyone, to help make a difference in our community.

LAST WEEK to see EXHIBIT

This is your last week to have a chance to see our featured artist, Ariane Terez and this month’s art exhibit at the Rollin Art Centre. Terez’s love of the west coast with dramatic colour and movement is captured in her exhibit titled, Facing West. This art exhibit will run until March 3.

NEXT ART EXHIBIT

Our next exhibit with featured artist, Vittoria Doughty, will be very unique. Titled “Steeling Nature”, Vittoria will be showcasing a collection of stainless steel metal art of fish, birds, mountain scenes and trees. This exhibit will run from March 9 31. Join us in the gallery on Saturday, March 11 from 1–3 p.m., for refreshments and a chance to meet Vittoria.

COLOURING BOOKS

We are excited to present a project/fundraiser we have been working on for a few months: a community colouring book. This book, titled, Discovering the Valley is filled with many landmarks of this amazing Valley, all drawn by local artists. The cost is only $20. A huge thank you to all the artists who submitted to this project. If you are interested in purchasing one, makes a great gift idea, stop by the Rollin Art Centre for your copy today.

RENEW MEMBERSHIPS

Here’s why it’s so important to renew or take out a new membership with the Community Arts Council: when you take out a membership, you are helping to guarantee our future, and allow us to continue on with our mandate, to help advocate for the arts, for arts organizations and those working in the arts.

The cost is only $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $22 for a family. As we are a non-profit organization we rely on the generous support of art patrons.

SOLSTICE ARTS Fest

Join us for our second annual Solstice Arts Festival–Days With the Arts, June 16–17. Artists and artisans can sell their artwork on the grounds at the Rollin Art Centre.

Table rentals are $60 for the two-day event.

Melissa Martin is the Arts Administrator for the Community Arts Council, at the Rollin Art Centre
