The gals of The Cheesecake Burlesque Revue are all ready to bring their sassy show back to the Cowichan Valley.

Those sassy lassies of the The Cheesecake Burlesque Revue return to the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Hold onto your hats and get ready for a wild ride of glamour, glitter, and giggles because you’ll get an eyeful from this vivacious and rollicking cast of high-heeled, stand-out variety girls who bring their saucy cabaret extravaganza to the stage.

The Cheesecakes will have you blushing, guffawing and singing along in their funny, sexy and spectacular stage show.

According to Cheesecake gal, Kitten Kaboodle, “We try to show that everybody’s body is beautiful, and it’s lovely to have confidence in your own body. All of the cheesecakes are 100 per cent girl next door — the sort of women you’d see in the grocery store.”

The Cheesecakes bring sex appeal and hilarity together on stage with dance routines, comedic skits, audience participation and even a touch of ukulele. From nerdy to sensual, curvy to cute, elegant to rock ‘n’ roll, there’s a Cheesecake for everyone.

Over the last eight years, this Victoria-based troupe has toured from New York to such European cities as Paris, Helsinki and Stockholm.

Note: The Cheesecake Burlesque Revue is good fun, but may not be suitable for all audiences.

Tickets are $35 each. Get them in person at the Cowichan Ticket Centre, online at cowichanpac.ca, or by phone 250-748-7529.

Try out burlesque for yourself

If you’re interested in learning professional burlesque moves from the experts, The Cheesecake Burlesque Revue is offering a ladies-only Sass Class 101 workshop on Saturday, Sept. 24.

According to the Cheesecakes, the art of burlesque has given them more confidence in their daily lives because of the fun they have on stage and they want to share that with other women.

Professional instructors from the troupe will teach the art of burlesque from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the private rehearsal hall of the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre.

Workshop participants will learn the history of burlesque; the stage-name game: creating your own burlesque persona; glitter and glamour: how to sparkle up your eyes and lips; burlesque movement: learn to bump and grind, shimmy and shake; making the most of props: boas, gloves, and more; a tassel-twirling tit-torial; and, finally, putting it all together to music: a chance to practise your new skills.

The class is limited to 30 participants.

The price for the workshop alone is $25 but, by paying $45 you can take the workshop and see the evening show as well. Tickets are available in person at the Cowichan Ticket Centre, 2687 James St. or by phone 250-748-7529 or online at cowichanpac.ca.
