Director and producer Dawn Adams will lead her troupe of swinging seniors through four performances of their Clubhouse Musical Review next month.
Adams has been directing and producing shows in Chemainus for the last 20 years.
She referred to her new spring review as “a great variety show” that includes song-and-dance numbers and a “short and hilarious fashion show” featuring seniors clad in cutting-edge couture from the 19th and 20th centuries.
Musical numbers featured in the production cover “a century of music” and include Eric Idle’s catchy melody Always Look on the Bright Side of Life — from Monty Python’s Life of Brian — and Psy’s Gangnam Style.
The show will also poke fun at golf, its enthusiasts and its Scottish heritage through a number accompanied by Carol Fowler on bagpipes.
Adams said the show “is a lot of fun” and audience members “always leave laughing” following a show that includes heavy doses of crowd participation.
The Clubhouse Review will be presented at the Mount Brenton Golf Club early next month. Evening performances are scheduled nightly from Thursday, April 4 through Saturday, April 6. Cocktails will be served Thursday through Saturday at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and a 7 p.m. curtain time. The show’s final performance is scheduled for Sunday, April 7 at 4 p.m. followed by dinner at 5 p.m. and a 6 p.m. showtime.
The deluxe buffet will be presented by executive chef Mike Morgan of Clubhouse Catering.
Tickets for the Clubhouse Musical Review cost $25 and can be purchased at the Mount Brenton Golf Club, Chemainus Foods and 49th Parallel Grocery.
Seating is limited, Adams said, and “tickets are selling fast.”
