Chilliwack band to perform at virtual international folk music conference

The Crescent Sky one of two B.C. bands chosen for Folk Unlocked

A Chilliwack band will be performing during a virtual international folk music conference later this month.

The Crescent Sky is one of two B.C. bands that has been chosen for Folk Unlocked, a five-day virtual event presented by Folk Alliance International.

“This showcase means a lot to us. It gives us the opportunity to network with industry professionals across the world, and connect with international artists we otherwise wouldn’t have met,” said Anna Ratzlaff, band member with The Crescent Sky.

The band is made up of two husband-and-wife couples – Anna and Jason Ratzlaff from Chilliwack, and Regan and Anna Luth from New Westminster.

Their showcase for Folk Unlocked was prerecorded at Hipposonic Studios in Vancouver in January and the performance will be approximately 10 minutes long. They will be playing original music, one song that has been released as well as an unreleased song.

The Crescent Sky is being sponsored by Music BC and BreakOut West.

“It’s also an honour to be chosen by Music BC and BreakOut West to represent B.C. (alongside other B.C. artist Tonye). At the conference we will also have the opportunity to learn from folk veterans like Anais Mitchell, which is priceless,” Ratzlaff said.

You can catch The Crescent Sky on Monday, Feb. 22 at 1:30 p.m.
