Chilliwack to offer biggest hits

Veteran rockers still know how to put on an amazing performance

Chilliwack is bringing four decades of rocking music to Qualicum Beach on Wednesday, May 9.

The Canadian band, which had several hits in the 1970s and early ‘80s from their 13 albums, is performing at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre.

The group is best known for their three biggest songs, My Girl (gone gone gone), I Believe and Watcha Gonna Do and the driving force behind Chilliwack, Bill Henderson said to this day those are the most requested songs.

Fly at Night is big and Crazy Talk… they still get a tremendous amount of radio air play,” said Henderson from his home on Salt Spring Island.

The only original member of the band said even after all these years he enjoys performing the songs for appreciative audiences.

“I don’t get tired when I play music. It gives you life. That is what it is all about… it makes you feel good and that is the magnet,” he said.

Henderson said the current band has been together for 17 years now and added that although it is quite a long stretch for the same personnel they still have fun.

“They are great musicians and we enjoy working together.  You have to get thoroughly into it when you play the same songs and we have fun with it… that’s our job.”

He said aside from the classics, they will perform a little bit of their newer music, including a song Henderson wrote called Patent on the Wind.
