The Rockwater Grill & Bar will be hosting some Canadian talent on May 26. Chris Gheran will be playing some ‘hard folk’ music starting at 8 p.m.
Gheran’s friend and fellow band member Tyler will also be playing with Gheran.
“I don’t really know why I started music. It was probably a combination of I suck at most other things and without it I was kinda lost,” says Gheran, “I heard the Beatles and wanted to be just like them.”
Gheran is from Calgary Alberta where he says he also works for a soap-making company.
“I have to keep running back to Calgary to make soap. We’re going to bring soap on tour with us and sell it, we hope people are excited. So far I’ve only given some to my dad, but that still counts right?”
If Gheran’s homemade soap doesn’t make people excited his music will. The bands folk subject matter and electric sound has awarded them with great reviews and even a comparison to Bob Dylan.
Gheran says that the band came together over a love of music and the fact that they all realized they had talent.
“We all shared the love for it, but I think we started out just like every other band out there. Dudes who hang out and decide to play music live.”
All three of Gheran’s cds will be available for purchase at their show in Golden.
“We encourage people to buy our latest cd because that one is our favorite. But really they can buy any cd, or all of them, or just one of them. We will pretty much be happy with anything.”
