Cinema Under the Stars

Outdoor movies will be for free under the stars

Prospera Credit Union’s Theatre Under the Stars returns this summer.

The free outdoor movies series, shown on a three-storey-high big screen, takes place in Abbotsford twice in August.

Both events are held at Rotary Stadium after the sun goes down.

The first is on Friday, Aug. 14, when Big Hero 6 will be shown.

The second is on Thursday, Aug. 27, when Cinderella will be the featured movie.

Donations on both nights will be collected for Success by 6, a partnership of the United Way, Credit Unions of B.C., the Ministry of Children and Family Development, and aboriginal and community leaders.

The program encourages citizens to build and fund programs that include cultural programs and resources, literacy, nutrition, child care and more for kids under six years old and their families.

Cinema Under the Stars also takes place twice in Mission at Fraser River Heritage Park.

The movie Home will be shown on Saturday, Aug. 22, and Big Hero 6 will be shown on Saturday, Aug. 29.

Donations on both nights will be collected for the Mission Heritage Association.
