As a thank you to all Canadian Armed Forces personnel and military veterans, Cineplex Entertainment, which owns Vernon’s Galaxy Cinemas, is offering free admission to see the film Fury.
The free admission will be offered all day on Remembrance Day Tuesday.
Veterans and Canadian Armed Forces personnel who present proper military identification will receive free admission to the powerful David Ayer film starring Brad Pitt.
“Recent events that took place in Canada remind us of the importance of never forgetting the sacrifices our armed forces make to keep Canada free, strong and a vibrant democracy,” said Pat Marshall, vice president of communications and investor relations, with Cineplex Entertainment. “This is one way we can say thank you.”
Fury follows the time in April, 1945, as the Allies make their final push in the European theatre. A battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, and with a rookie soldier thrust into their platoon, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.
“We think this is a great way to honour the members of our armed forces and veterans. We’ve heard from so many veterans that they feel Fury truly speaks to their experience in wartime, so, on a day when we all want to find ways to give back to the men and women who serve, we’re thrilled to be giving free admission to the film to veterans and active personnel (Tuesday),” said Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution for Sony Pictures.
