A collision of glitter, glamour and fire unite on stage as circus meets burlesque.
Naughty and Spice Burlesque is performing with circus troupe Vestafire to create a show that is part circus, part burlesque on July 30 at Nanaimo Centre Stage.
It’s the second circus-themed show produced by Naughty and Spice and the first collaboration with Vestafire, which adds an element of fire. The show will give each group an opportunity to perform to a new audience.
“People who love burlesque will be able to see what we do, and vice versa,” said Karina Strong of Vesta Fire. “It’s a unique opportunity to sample both worlds in one night.”
While Naughty and Spice focuses on comedy skits and the tease-and-reveal that they are known for, Vestafire will bring traditional circus skills to the event, such as hooping, poi spinning, contact juggling, wand dancing and more – all with a sassy cabaret flair.
Having a passion for women’s health and empowerment also prompted the troupes to partner with the B.C. Cancer Agency’s LACE Campaign.
LACE is a grassroots social media campaign promoting the importance of regular cervical cancer screening to women in B.C.
Tickets for Cirque Du Burlesque are $20 in advance from The Clubhouse, www.naughtyandspiceburlesque.com or www.vestafireentertainment.ca. Tickets are $25 at the door.
