Climbing your way out of creative ruts

Surrey artist Joanne Dennis gives a talk at the Surrey Art Gallery Jan. 8 on how to reconnect to your work.

Creative blocks are a common but unwelcome guest for most artists, triggering questions of worth, meaning, and exasperated exclamations of “What on earth am I doing?”

On Jan. 8 for the Thursday Artist Talk series at the Surrey Art Gallery, join artist and creative facilitator Joanne Dennis for a conversation about reconnecting to meaning and purpose in your creative work, reminding you why you started creating in the first place. Come meet a group of fellow artists, or anyone struggling with such questions, to open up new inspirations and help you move forward in your creative projects. This talk will include group exercises that expand the mind and help remove those nasty, irritating blocks to your creative process.

Dennis is a Canadian artist and creative facilitator living in Surrey. She paints vibrant abstracts and representational landscapes that communicate a diversity of sensual adventures and strong spiritual connections. She is also an adult educator, teaching art classes at the Newton Cultural Centre. Her desire is to communicate new ideas and concepts through her art, and to share in the creative inspirations that connect us all. To see her gallery and upcoming events, visit www.joannedennis.ca

There will be time for questions and conversation during and following the Surrey talk. The event concludes by 9 p.m. and refreshments are provided. This event is presented by the Surrey Art Gallery Association in partnership with the Surrey Art Gallery, and with support from the Arts Council of Surrey.
