Coastal Black Estate Winery to showcase local artists

Artists featured throughout the summer

For the first time Coastal Black Estate Winery will be providing local artists the opportunity to display their work throughout the summer months. These art shows will be held in the Winery’s well-appointed tasting room.

“We at Coastal Black are very excited to be displaying the work of some of the areas most talented artists during the 2016 Summer season. This Island has such a rich culture of artists and artisanal producers and we love every opportunity we get to pull them together. The local art on display this Summer will really show a wide variety of the amazing talent we have in our region and we are thrilled to be a part of that” said Abel O’Brennan, the winery’s owner.

The first artist to have a show during the month of June is well known Valley artist Joe Smith. With the focus on west coast scenery his paintings are a natural fit for the West Coast themed décor of the large tasting room.

“People are always interested in discovering what foods pair well with different wines. Artists on the other hand have known for years that wine and art seem to have a synergy that is reflected in people’s tastes,” said Joe Smith. “Having the opportunity to bring paintings to the very place where the art of wine is crafted adds another dimension to the experience of visiting the winery.”

Not only will the artists be showing their work but will be on hand for selected dates to do some on site painting and answer any questions about their art. For example Smith is scheduled to be there the weekends of June 11/12 and the 18/19.

For a complete list of other artists who will be exhibiting and the dates they are scheduled to be on site check out the winery’s website www.coastalblack.ca

“I’m really looking forward to being a part of this experience as well as meeting with visitors,” said Smith. ”It’s a great opportunity for artists and one that is really appreciated because it provides another venue to create awareness of the talent and creativity of local artists.”

Coastal Black Winery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 2186 Endall Road in Black Creek just off Highway 19a.
