So you think you can play?

Wired Monk Coventry at 184 Street and 64 Avenue hosts an Open Mic Music Night for musicians and singers every Wednesday, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Prospective talent and spectators are welcome.

No experience in front a live audience is necessary for first-time performers – newbies can take a turn performing in a comfortable, open setting.

(Remember to bring your own instrument – equipment not supplied.)

Barista Patricia says open mic nights are a good forum for nurturing local talent.

A young man who’d never sang in front of an audience before, got the nerve at an open mic a few weeks ago. It went so well, he’s been coming regularly since, she says.

“Over the past couple of weeks, you can tell his confidence is up. It’s amazing.”
