Attendees of the upcoming tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival, known as CCR, will be brought back in time to the 1960s and early 1970s with a tribute band — Completely Creedence.

‘Completely’ is a word mimicking its meaning of wholly trying to resemble the band.

Jamie Robertson of Completely Creedence, who plays the role of lead singer John Fogerty, said the band has a lot of fun and try to get the crowd involved as best they can.

“We try to be as authentic as we can to CCR and try and play their music as it was intended to be played,” said Robertson.

Proud Mary, Suzie Q, Born on the Bayou and Bad Moon Rising are just some of the songs that will be performed.

Completely Creedence have been together for 12 years, after starting out as Mr. Completely, and incorporated a lot of CCR and did original songs and cover songs too.

They’ve played at weddings and dances and eventually decided to swing right into CCR fully as they played so much of it already in their set list.

Robertson first got into music from his father, who played guitar and sang.

“I’m the youngest of five and my two older brothers picked up the guitar and played and sang and (at) five years old I had a guitar in my hand.”

He said when it comes to getting in the CCR mindset, you just can’t help it.

“I totally grew up with CCR in my household,” said Robertson, adding what he likes most is Fogerty’s passion for what he did.

“He put everything into his singing and he just had so many songs that just grab you, just one after the other after the other. There’s just so many great songs,” he said.

Although the group didn’t meet any of the original members of CCR — as that band has not been together for years — the guys from Completely Creedence did go an see John Fogerty perform at the Save-on Foods Memorial Centre in October, to see who they were imitating.

“I think Fogerty would be pleased at what we’re doing, staying on track with what his songs were intended to be. I think he would enjoy it.”
