An afternoon family Christmas concert featuring some local talented musicians is meant as an offering to thank the community for its continued support.
The Oceanside Grandmothers to Grandmothers and the Oceanside Concert Band (OCB) are hosting Comfort and Joy at Knox United Church Dec. 15. The show will feature the OCB, the KSS Concert Choir and soloist Rosalee Sullivan.
Entry is by donation and will benefit both the Salvation Army and the Stephen Lewis Foundation, providing care and support to women, orphaned children, grandmothers and people living with HIV and AIDS in Africa.
Oceanside Grandmothers to Grandmothers member Kathy Grand said they will be taking donations at the door but their focus is on thanking the community for the support throughout the year by giving them an enjoyable afternoon.
“The focus is on kind of getting yourself ready for the season, and having the opportunity to come and enjoy some beautiful music on an afternoon before Christmas.”
The OCB will perform favourites like The Christmas Song and Sleigh Ride, the KSS choir will perform numbers including Silent Night and I Saw Three Ships and Rosalee will sing White Christmas, A Christmas Medley and lead a sing-along.
The concert runs from 2:30 — 4 p.m.
