This weekend may be your last opportunity to catch Bev Finch and the Saliani Band in action. They’ll be playing a gig at the Shady Rest in Qualicum Beach on April 18.
According to Finch, some members of the group have other projects on the go.
The band began in a whirl-wind last December when singer-songwriter Finch and guitarist Saliani, who already played as a duet at Deez Bar and Grill, heard that the Parksville Legion’s New Year’s Eve band cancelled. So, the duo called up mid-Island musicians Jay Young, bass, and Dave Kelsberg, percussion, to join up with them to fill that gap.
“We just threw a band together and it worked,” said Finch. “All of the members are talented on their own.”
Together, the musicians play “blues-kissed songs you can dance too,” the singer said.
For their upcoming show at the Shady, Finch said they’ll play blues, folk, roots, some of her own singer-songwriter stuff. They’ll also play cover hits ranging from Joe Cocker to ZZ Ward.
“I love going to the Shady,” said Finch. “It’s a fun place to go. People really appreciate what you’re doing.”
The band will hit the stage at 7 p.m.
