Country Club makes Top 55 of CBC Comedy Coup contest

Comedy trio hopes to keep momentum building with a party at Deep Woods Lounge (aka) Newlands on Nov. 7

Country Club, Langley’s lone contender in CBC’s Comedy Coup has made it through to the next phase of competition.

Lara Deglan, Brock Pennie and Caileigh Anderson have reached the top 55 — the third round of the national online comedy contest.

The Langley comedy troupe is hoping to garner plenty of support from local audiences as they make a bid to be among a minimum of five projects that Comedy Coup will option for development.

According to the CBC website, one project will be greenlit for $500,000 production financing to create a half-hour comedy special which will air in the fall of 2015

To help keep the momentum going, the Langley team will host a party this Friday.

The trio’s Country Club party — complete with a putting green —  happens this Friday, Nov.  7 at 7 p.m. at Deep Woods Lounge (aka Newlands Bar and Grill).

“We are going to try and set up a voting station because the party is happening during the Top 15 voting period,” said Deglan.

“We are also urging people to dress up in golf attire, if they are interested; there will be a prize for the person with the best golf-related getup.”
