The Cowichan Musical Society has announced a strong cast for its blockbuster musical, Oliver, scheduled for January, 2017.
The Society’s Irwin Killam said last week following the auditions, “Oh, my goodness, the talent we saw yesterday was amazing. I have seen many auditions and these were some of the best I have ever seen. I am so proud of this wonderful, talented community. We are impressed with the amount of boys that came out to audition. Well done to every single one of you.”
Oliver will be played by Dominic Fagan; Sarah Lane will take the role of Nancy and Fagin will be performed by Grant Mellemstrand.
Reuben Broadway will be the Artful Dodger while Austin Frykas will play Bill Sykes.
Widow Corney will be performed by Julia Lalonde, Bet by Mikayala Beaveridge, Mr. Bumble by Ted Eden and Mrs. Bedwin by Mari Brown.
Auditions have also been held for the chorus and there will be a few more roles to be announced soon, as well as the understudies for the main roles.
Oliver will be presented at the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre in the evenings on Friday, Jan. 20, and Saturday, Jan. 21. There will also be a matinee on Sunday, Jan. 22.
