The Campbell River Singers (right) would like to invite you to join them on Sunday May 1 for their annual Spring concert titled I Dreamed a Dream.

They are dedicating this performance to Rae Lang, a founding member of the Campbell River Singers who is retiring from the choir after 38 years of song.

John Montgomery, Conductor, and Shelley Roberts, Assistant Conductor have a wonderfully eclectic mix of pieces to present to the audience this year.

Stroll down memory lane with the 40s Swing Era favourites “Tuxedo Junction” and “Choo Choo Ch’ Boogie”; the 50s :”When I Fall in Love” and who could forget the angst of “A Teenager in Love”?

Classic songs by Billy Joel, “And So it Goes”, and the Beatles’ ”Eleanor Rigby” round out the blasts from the past.

But it doesn’t end there! Rousing spirituals, beautiful inspirational songs, and folk songs from Newfoundland, Quebec and Ireland will run the gamut of emotions and will guarantee something for everyone. Last but not least is the title piece “I Dreamed A Dream” which is the famous lament from the musical Les Miserables. Originally a solo, it has been adapted for choral presentation by Ed Lojeski.

Rudimentrio, a talented Jazz Trio based in Nanaimo, are joining them as their special guests. Rob Wilkinson on piano, Matt Aasen on guitar, and Dan Montgomery on Bass will be performing pieces from their repertoire.

The venue for this year’s concert is the United Church at the corner of Birch and Pinecrest. The performance will be at 2 p.m. with doors opening at 1:30.

Tickets can be purchased from Odyssey Computers and at the door (not at the Visitor’s Centre as previously reported). Adults $15 and Seniors and Students $12.
