Heather Blush House Concert Aug. 3rd

Another intimate gathering for music lovers in the Ashcroft area, hosted by Creative Cow House Concerts will feature Calgary based singer songwriter and guitarist, Heather Blush on Wednesday August 3rd at 8 pm.

Whether performing solo or with her trio, Heather’s music can be described as somewhere between the “Adult Alternative” styles of Sarah Slean and Sarah Harmer, and old “Ella/Louis-style” vocal jazz/blues. Her voice is often compared to Norah Jones and Maria Muldaur.

With energetic, audience-engaging shows, she is quickly becoming known for songwriting that covers all bases between witty sarcasm and gut wrenching honesty. 2010 started off as a great year, with the trio performing at the Vancouver Winter Olympics, and Heather’s song “I Don’t Believe Me Anymore” being chosen as a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

The location for this summertime concert will be at the Creative Cow Farm House on Barnes Lake Rd. and hopefully be an outdoor affair, weather permitting. For reservations (250) 453-9100 or email creativecow@telus.net.Take a Summer

Kumsheen Rafting offers Live Music

Don’t miss some great live music at the Kumsheen Rafting Resort with Paul Filek on Saturday, August 6th from 8:30pm – 10:30pm. Paul’s  current album “Elephant Shoes” is a blend of love ballads like “Falling for You” or “One Love”, good old rock and roll, some Spanish influences in “Elephant Shoes”, some hillbilly and there’s even a childlike innocence to a song or two. Without realizing it, you are tapping your toes, singing along and smiling as your doing it. “I just want to make people happy” Paul says…and with this current album he does exactly that.

With his easy charm, warm voice and catchy songs, there’s a reason he won the Peoples Choice Award at the BCIMA’s. His music is about lovers, love lost, friends, family, having fun and living life. In addition to whitewater rafting, folks can choose from other guided activities such as river kayaking, rock climbing and mountain biking. The resort has a licensed restaurant, furnished cabin tent and teepee accommodations, a large outdoor hot tub and swimming pool. Just 5kms east of Lytton. Phone 1-800-663-6667. www.kumsheen.com
