Creative Current

Ashcroft's Music in the Park concert series starts next week, a sure sign summer is almost here

Afternoon concert at UniTea

UniTea Tea Room presents another splendid intimate after noon of great live music with She Could Be Trouble on Saturday, June 4 at 4:00 p.m.

She Could Be Trouble is a dynamic trio of musicians blending blues, gospel, folk, and funk. The band features three talented musicians: Brodie Dawson, Tracy Riley, and Christy Vanden. Their harmonizing is exquisite, their instrumentation is versatile and supportive, and they get to choose the best songs from each of them, bringing their original material to life more broadly and deeply than they can individually.

Tickets are $20 per person and are available now at UniTea or call to reserve (250-453-9345).  There are only 30 seats available for this intimate show.

Adam Zonnis plays the Packing House

Inspired by roots, blues, rock, funk, musical comedy, and country—to name a few—the music of Zonnis is an eclectic collection of musical stories highlighting the trials, thrills, humour, and tribulations of life on the road. Zones plays the Packing House in Spences Bridge on Friday, June 10. Dinner, dessert, and the show is $30 per ticket, with dessert and the show $15. Reservations only at (250) 458-2256, or by dropping in at the Packing House.

Bobby Garcia comes to Ashcroft

UniTea presents the Bobby Garcia Duo on Saturday, June 18 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door, or call/drop by to reserve.

Bobby Garcia is a country and western music artist from Merritt, who specializes in older country music, as well as some newer and original material. His musical influences include Hank Williams, Jr., Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and Alan Jackson, just to name a few. Garcia has played at the Rockin’ River Fest in Merritt and in many local establishments. He’ll be playing with Six More Strings band mate Herb MacLellan on pedal steel guitar.

Ashcroft Music in the Park

The Winding Rivers Arts & Performance Society is excited to once again have the lovely parks in Ashcroft ring out in song for the sixth summer in a row. WRAPS will be presenting the best in live music on Wednesday evenings for all to enjoy. Live music lovers can look forward to another delightful season of song.

The year’s first Music in the Park concert features velvet-voiced blues, roots, rock, and jazz singer Andrea Smith, who graces the Heritage Park gazebo Wednesday, June 22. It runs through August, with WRAPS pleased to announce that due to the overwhelming success last year, this season’s final Music in the Park show will again feature the marvellous classic rock music of Paisley Groove! Last August WRAPS partnered with the local Tri-club in support of their annual outdoor movie night fund-raiser—and what a wonderful time that was!

In order to give WRAPS’ hardworking group of volunteers some much deserved time off during the summer, there will be two shows in June, and one each in July and August. For more information go to  www.windingriversarts.ca.
