Admission is free, and the block party will be running in conjunction with the Farmers’ Market.

She Could Be Trouble at UniTea

UniTea Tea Room is hosting an exciting afternoon concert on June 4 as part of the 2016 #TroubleOnFireTour featuring the bold trio She Could Be Trouble, who were recently nominated for Group of the Year at the 2016 Vancouver Island Music Awards. This freshly-formed group is made up of a dynamic combo of singer-songwriters and talented musicians: Brodie Dawson, Christy Vanden, and Tracy Riley. While these three songbirds have graced many venues and given truly powerful performances in their own right, they’ve now joined forces to deliver blues, soul, gospel, and rootsy funk-folk combined into one delicious mix. These ladies are turning heads wherever they go. The concert starts at 4:00 p.m.; tickets are available at the door, or can be reserved by dropping by UniTea or calling (250) 453-9345.

Rotary wine tasting features murder mystery

The Ashcroft/Cache Creek Rotary Club is hosting its annual wine, ale, and cider tasting evening on Saturday, June 4; and in addition to appetizers and desserts, the event will feature the interactive murder mystery Rock a Die Baby, presented by the Winding Rivers Arts & Performance Society. Members of the high school class of 1954 will be among the attendees, awaiting the arrival of the school’s most illustrious graduate, rock star Rock-n-Roley, at their five-year reunion. But will he arrive alive? The adults-only event runs from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. at St. Alban’s Church hall in Ashcroft; tickets are available at Interior Savings Credit Union.

Music in the Park

This year’s Music in the Park concert series in Ashcroft, produced by the Winding Rivers Arts & Performance Society, kicks off on June 22 with velvet-voiced blues, roots, rock, and jazz singer Andrea Smith. WRAPS is looking forward to its 6th annual series, which is sure to delight all music lovers; summer in Ashcroft wouldn’t be the same without it. The first three concerts will take place at the gazebo in the Heritage Park on Railway, and will start at 6:30 p.m., while the final concert—featuring Paisley Groove from Kamloops—will take place outdoors at the HUB on August 24, in conjunction with a movie night fund-raiser in support of the Kids TRYathlon.
