Summertime. . . and the listenin’ is easy!

Ashcroft summers wouldn’t be the same without Music in the Park,

brought to you by the folks of Winding Rivers Arts & Performance

Society. Music in the Park is back for another year of Wednesday

evening concerts at the Gazebo in Heritage Place Park on Railway Ave

from 7-9:30 pm.

And who better to get things started 7 pm on Wednesday, June 8 than

the popular duo from Spences Bridge, Flat Busted. The songbird sister

act of  Dixie and Paulet Rice will take to the stage and deliver a

sweetheart set of old favorites. Dixie will know doubt sing a few

songs of her Patsy Cline repertoire.

During the coming weeks, a variety of musicians will tune up at the

the Gazebo, including rockers, folkies and country twangers. The music

continues on June 22 with Vancouver Country Trio, Willy Blizzard.

Battagalia with Sound Refuge (Folk/Pop), July 27 – Linda McRae

(Oldtime Country/Bluegrass) from Nashville, Aug. 10 – The Masonettes

with Leslie Alexander and Llynn Kellman (Folk/Roots), and on Aug. 24 –

Bargain Basement Band (Older Rock/Blues). Bring a chair, a blanket.

Public washrooms will be available. Pass-that-Hat donations

Jam Night at The Riv

The River Inn Pub hosts a ‘Jam Night’ on Friday, May 27 starting at 8

pm. Everyone is welcome; Singers, Musicians, bring an instrument,

borrow ours or listeners – just sit and enjoy the sounds. The Jam is

Cowboy Dinner Theatre

Rodeo Weekend in Clinton is coming up! Take in a Cowboy Dinner & Show

on Friday, May 27 at the Clinton Memorial Hall featuring; Dan Fremlim

and Jim Karr (vocals and mandolin) and Kraig Jodrey (singer-songwriter

and guitarist).   Doors at 5:30 pm, Dinner at 6:30 pm and the Show

starts at 7:30 pm. Proceeds to the Clinton 2011 Grad Class. For more

Art in The Park Youth Event

P.H.P. (People Helping People) presents an ‘Art In The Park Youth

Event’ on Friday, May 27 from 5-8 pm. This free fun evening will

feature; Art, Photography, Dance, Poetry and Music from the Youth

Communities of Ashcroft, Cache Creek and Clinton. The event takes

place in Ashcroft at the Heritage Place Park and Gazebo. Bring a lawn

chair or blanket. Check out some cool Art and listen to some awesome

talented singers and poets. Interested in being a part of it? Please

call or drop by the Ashcroft High school office to pick up a

submission form. P.H.P. is a program of South Cariboo Elizabeth Fry

Society and supported by the Thompson Nicola Cariboo United Way.

House Concert with Rockland Morland

Creative Cow House Concerts in Ashcroft presents Shawnigan-based Delta-

bluesman Rockland Moran on Friday, May 27. Whether singing or playing

some hot lick instrumentals, Rock has an infectious fusion style of

‘jazz, delta and  roots blues’ that is evocative and authentic. For
