49th annual Ashcroft Art Show

The 49th annual Fine Art Show and Sale takes place this year from April 15 to 19. Opening night on Friday the 15th is from 6:00 to 9:00pm (adults only), and is a great opportunity to meet the artists. From Saturday through Tuesday the show is open to all from noon to 5:00pm. The event will be held at St. Alban’s Church hall at 501 Brink Street in Ashcroft.

A tribute to ABBA comes to Cache Creek on April 29, when tribute band ABBA Cadabra comes to town. The concert starts at 7:30pm in the Cache Creek Community Hall, and tickets are available online at showtickets.ticketleap.com or at the Cache Creek Husky station (cash only). Tickets are $25.00 in advance or $30.00 at the door (GST not included).

This high-energy and interactive stage show has been touring the world for more than 15 years, bringing the timeless and uplifting music of ABBA to life! ABRA Cadabra will be performing all of ABBA’s biggest hits, including “Dancing Queen”, “Mamma Mia”, “SOS”, “Take a Chance”, “Waterloo”, “Does Your Mother Know”, and more! This is an all-ages show.

Sage Sound Singers concert

The Sage Sound Singers, with special guest the Desert Bells Handbell Choir, presents its seventh annual spring concert on Saturday, April 30, at 7:00pm at the Crossroads Pentecostal Church in Cache Creek. The concert is  “The Best of the Sage Sound Singers” and features many old favourites from their repertoire, including “Blue Moon”, “Hallelujah”, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”, and “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, as well as a performance by the Handbell Choir. Admission and refreshments are by donation.

Lillooet Music presents The Marc Atkinson Trio

The Lillooet Music Society presents The Marc Atkinson Trio, who will  perform in Lillooet on Saturday, May 7 at St. Andrew’s/St. Mary’s Church. Dinner concert tickets are available at KC Health & Gifts and Pharmasave, or phone (250) 246-0614.

WRAPS presents Canadian pianist Sarah Hagen

The Winding Rivers Arts & Performance Society presents Canadian pianist Sarah Hagen on May 13 at Zion United Church in Ashcroft. Tickets will be available at Nature’s Gifts, the Jade Shop, Ashcroft Bakery, and at the UniTea Tea Room.

Come and enjoy this fabulous musician’s brilliant interpretations of some the world’s most revered music, served with a generous helping of her sparkling and engaging personality. Hagen has been heard in concert halls and on the airwaves throughout North America and Europe. Her interpretations have been described as “outstandingly inventive” and performed with “infinite skill”. A visionary and an idealist, Sarah’s performances are conceptually innovative, involving photography, dance, and spoken word.

As a First Prize Winner in the 2013 Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition, Sarah was awarded the opportunity to perform solo at New York City’s Carnegie Hall in May 2013. Her debut solo album, Glass House Dancing, was nominated for Classical Recording of the Year at the 2009 Western Canadian Music Awards.

She Could Be Trouble at UniTea

She Could Be Trouble is a dynamic trio of musicians blending blues, gospel, folk, and funk. These three women’s original songs and luscious harmonies have been captivating audiences around B.C.. Tickets are $20.00 per person, and are available now at UniTea. There are only 30 seats available for this intimate show.

The band features three talented musicians: Brodie Dawson, Tracy Riley, and Christy Vanden. Dawson has proven that breaking many of the established rules of the music industry and staying true to her own style works, while Riley is a multi-talented musician who plays acoustic guitar, harmonica, bass, and percussion.

At only 21 years old, Vanden brings her own style of playing to the tradition of the Fender Stratocaster electric guitar. A guitar player since the age of seven, she can hit you with her powerful electric or charm you with her beautiful acoustic picking.
