Cupid contra dance featuring Funtime Fiddlers in Merville

Hey, all you Comox Valley Romeos, romance is in the air at the Valentine’s Day Contra Dance at the Big Yellow Merville Hall on Saturday, Feb. 20.

The Funtime Fiddlers will provide the entertainment, as they pluck the strings for your dancing pleasure while our dance caller, June Cannon, keeps the dancers organized and even brings the shy wallflowers onto the floor.

Generally there is a contra dance workshop from 7 to 7:29.

At 7:30, on Cupid’s command, the Funtime Fiddlers blow kisses to the crowd, start the music and the gaiety begins. Single dancers and families are welcome. Singles can pair up with anyone during the contras and our contra sets last about 15 to 20 minutes.  In between the called contra dances, we’ll play waltzes and reels; jigs and swing tunes, as well as line up some talented soloists for some Valentine variety.

So pop into the Big Yellow Merville Dance Hall, right on the Old Island Highway, between Campbell River and Courtenay.

Doors open at 7, dance starts at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $10/adults, $5/youth (6 and under free) and you can come as a family for $22.
