Dance party for a good cause

Join Miss Teenage Vancouver at a Zumbathon in Pitt Meadows on Friday, July 11

Nicole Johnston is determined to do more random acts of kindness to make the world a better place.

As Miss Teenager Vancouver 2014, the Pitt Meadows resident is well on her way to creating a utopia.

Every little bit goes a long way, says Johnston, in her blog.

Johnston has achieved her pro status in contortion, works full time as a hazardous material technician and part time as an acrobatic teacher and model. Her plan for the future is to be a psychiatric nurse.

Her dream is to go to South Africa where she plans on helping to build a school for children.

Johnston has one more big task to complete before she heads to Toronto to compete in the Miss Teen Canada pageant July 26.

With the help of a long list of friends and supports, she has organized a “Zumbathon” to raise money for Free The Children.

Johnston bills it as a “90 minute party to raise money for a good cause.”

Fifteen Zumba instructors, J Mike “Mixmaster” Tuzzi and Maya Bennett, and Monte Arnold are donating their time to the event.

• The Zumbathon takes place Friday, July 11 at Heritage Hall, 12460 Harris Road in Pitt Meadows. Info: missteenvancouver.com.
