The name may sound a tad pessimistic, but a dance performance coming to Kelowna promises to be jubilant.
UBC Okanagan’s faculty of creative and critical studies is presenting as its first performance of the year, It’s going to get worse and worse and worse my friend…
Created and choreographed by renowned dancer Lisbeth Gruwez, the critically acclaimed dance is a combination of choreography, light, and fragments of speech by the notorious American televangelist Jimmy Swaggart.
The show has been created by the performance group Voetvolk and is being put on by UBCO’s Theatre 26 for two nights only, Friday and Saturday at the Mary Irwin Theatre in Kelowna’s Rotary Centre for the Arts.
Theatre 26 is a small company of bachelor of fine arts students in interdisciplinary performance, who hold work-study positions to run University Theatre.
They learn how to promote live productions, hang and focus lights, and run the sound and lighting booth for in-house and touring productions.
University Theatre serves as a venue for the department of creative studies for study, rehearsal and public performances, both for the campus community and the general public.
It’s going to get worse and worse and worse my friend… is part of UBC Okanagan’s faculty of creative and critical studies performance series, made possible through the support of the Central Okanagan Foundation.
Both shows start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20, or $15 for students/seniors, and can be purchased at the UBC Okanagan bookstore or at the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
