Dancers to compete at national event

KELOWNA –– Showtime Promotions, Canada’s largest competition dance festival series, is bringing its grand championships to the  Kelowna Community Theatre July 6 to 10.

Showtime is the only dance competition in Canada that awards full scholarships to The Edge Performing Arts Center in Hollywood, Calif.

With eight venues spanning western Canada, the best emerging dancers from five provinces will take part in the Kelowna event with the highest level of adjudication in the country. They will perform a range of dance styles including ballet, hip-hop, jazz, lyrical, and more.

To date, students have been awarded $1 million in scholarships and cash rewards. Showtime is currently supporting The Kids Help Phone as its official charity.

The competition is open to the general public, and runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, and the Sunday, from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission at the door will be $5 for the day, or $15 for a festival pass.
