Get in on the fun and enter the Family Day parade in Qualicum Beach this year.
This is the 37th year families have been participating in the parade and can include anything from bike riding to riding on a decked-out float.
Family Day is full of free activities for all ages and takes place May 26 in Qualicum Beach.
This year’s theme for the parade is ‘play’ and prizes will be awarded for best float, best costume, best youth participation and best community spirit. There are also limited opportunities for local non-profit organizations to operate a concession on the day.
This year’s Family Day will kick off with the ever-popular Shriners Pancake Breakfast from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in front of the civic centre.
The Royal Bank of Canada has partnered with the Ravensong Aquatic Centre once more to host a free swim for all from 10 a.m. to noon. Some speedy towelling will allow just enough time to get downtown to cheer on neighbours, friends and a variety of community organizations in the Family Day Parade. This starts at noon and travels up 2nd Avenue, arriving at the civic centre fields at 1 p.m.
The fields will once again be buzzing with free activities for all ages including bouncy castles, face painters, a climbing wall, interactive music, craft areas and much more.
There are many ways for anyone to be involved in this community orientated, fun event.
