This year’s gathering is shaping up to be an epic celebration of music, dance and performance art.

With the 2016 lineup spanning multiple genres and styles, it seems only fitting that dance favourites Delhi 2 Dublin will bring their groove-based mash up of world beat influences to the Atmosphere stage for an energetic live performance.

Delhi 2 Dublin are a unique Vancouver-based group that play an eclectic fusion of Bhangra, electronic, funk, dub reggae, hip hop, and Celtic music. After many sold out shows at The Waverley Hotel in Cumberland, the group has developed a devoted local following, and it’s not hard to see why.

These phenomenal musicians create a highly danceable sound by mixing electric beats with unusual instrument combos, such as the sitar and the violin. Hour Magazine has called them the ‘United Nations of rock n’ roll.’

Delhi 2 Dublin was a happy accident, born at Vancouver’s Celtic Fest in 2006 when a collaboration of cross-cultural bands came together for a one-off performance called Delhi to Dublin. The crowd went crazy and demanded more. The band was then formed and the name stuck. In 2007 Delhi 2 Dublin catapulted to national stardom when they played live on Parliament Hill to 150,000 people on Canada Day. Their set was broadcast across the country on the CBC and the rest is history. Now touring internationally, Delhi 2 Dublin has garnered increasing attention from U.S. audiences and worldwide acclaim. Ironically, they have just played their first show in India.

Nine albums later and after a decade of growth, this group is still one of the most talked about fusion influences on the Canadian music scene. Their latest studio album ‘We’re All Desi’ was released in the fall of 2015. Inspired by the band’s favourite Bollywood records from the ’70s, and their love of bass music, this last album is considered by many to be their strongest offering yet.
