DMT & FRNZ are this weekend’s headliner at Sunday Jazz at the Royal Coachman. DMT was conceived by Don MacKay to be a bit unique. The group plays the gamut of the jazz repertoire but with a greater focus on the likes of Corea, Shorter and Tyner as well as originals.
At the Coachman, the group will be playing a host of jazz standards. The basis of the group is the trio with MacKay on bass, Tom Tinsley on drums and Mike Eddy on Piano. The name of the group is derived from DonMikeTom and is augmented by fabulous FRNZ (friends) Dale Graham, vocals, Jay Havelaar, trumpet, and Rick Husband, guitar. These musicians all play in other groups, but come together in this group to challenge themselves in new ways.
