Haldane Elementary Parents Advisory Council has organized a chance for the community to come together, have some fun and support their local elementary school.

The PAC members have been working hard to bring back an old Haldane tradition, the spring carnival. In doing so, they have organized a number of events that will entertain the whole family.

The little ones can enjoy some live entertainment from Uncle Kris the Clown, as well as partake in a little bouncy castle fun.

All ages can enjoy in the dog fashion show, where participants will parade their decked-out pooch around in a circle where they will be judged on the best doggie outfit.

Attendees can fill their tummies with delicious cotton candy, or other tasty treats from the Lion’s concession or the Rotary Club who will both be on site.

A silent auction will be set up, giving attendees the chance to bid on a number of great prizes donated by local businesses. Each of the Haldane classes will have also put together their own baskets which will be raffled off. Each class has drawn a theme to base their basket on, giving each one their own unique flare. You never know what treasures you might find.

Not only is the carnival a chance for the community, students, parents and teachers to celebrate together, but it also helps support the school and the young children who will be attending next year.

All proceeds from the fair will be put back into the school, helping to purchase new electronics, sports and gym equipment, as well as pay for fields trips.

The event will run from 5 until 8 p.m. on May 16.

Anyone who wishes to enter their dog in the fashion show may do so by picking up a registration form from the Haldane office. All breeds are welcome, and the winner will get the bragging rights of having the most fashionable pooch in town.
