The Jazz Club of Salmon Arm welcomes Tiefenbacher and Mayr to perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 25 at SAGA Public Art Gallery, on Hudson Avenue.
This duo from Austria features smooth acoustic guitar, piano compositions and improvisations.
Michael Tiefenbacher was born in 1982 in Zams, Austria. He started piano lessons at age five and in 2001, studied jazz piano at the Conservatory of Tirol and the Gustav Mahler Conservatory.
Since 2009, he has been teaching at the Vienna Music Institute, and plays for many orchestras and bands throughout Europe.
Engel Mayr is Austria’s guitar chameleon.
His music can be described as avant-garde jazz rock, something Mayr plays with attitude.
He has performed in musicals such as West Side Story, Annie Get Your Gun and Camp Rock.
Born in 1984, Mayr picked up the guitar at the age of eight and has never put it down.
He studied jazz guitar with Ed Koehidorfer, Marcus Ratka and Peter Legat. Mayr now teaches jazz guitar at Jam Music Lab Conservatory in Vienna.
The Tiefenbacher Mayr Duo make musical magic with smooth acoustic guitar, piano compositions and improvisation, at 7 p.m. at SAGA Public Art Gallery. Admission is by a suggessted $15 donation.
