Duo busts out a cabin fever concert tour

First United Church is hosting a fundraising concert with Saskia and Darrel, also known as The Great Plains.

Toes will be tapping this Friday night at First United Church.

The church is hosting a fundraising concert with Saskia and Darrel, also known as The Great Plains.

The concert kicks off their Cabin Fever Tour in an effort to help break out of the winter doldrums by getting folks out for an evening of great music, and by leaving some funds behind in each community they play.

Enjoy a heartwarming show filled with music, merriment and mayhem as Saskia and Darrel deliver a fun blend of folk music, an unpredictable series of songs that change every time you see them.

They enthrall audiences with tales of Prairie elevators, blue- birds, war brides, Louis Riel, patchwork quilts, explorer and fur trader David Thompson and then surprisingly, will share a tender song about a spiritual journey, before breaking into Swiss yodeling, or Gaelic, French, Dutch or German song.

Great Plains is a veteran international touring act with an easy, crowd-friendly style that endears them to any audience. This is true Canadiana; real songs drenched in Canadian culture and heritage, delivered in a comfortable, highly skilled set with comical, self-poking humor.

A lasagna dinner will be served in the church hall at 5:30 p.m. and the concert is at 7.
