It’s a concert with a purpose and local talent will get the show underway.
Mike Shaver and Stephanie Webster of A Million Dollars in Pennies will open the Joel Plaskett Emergency Benefit Concert Sunday, April 15 at the Salmar Classic Theatre.
This group has been entertaining audiences recently in performance throughout the Shuswap, including the recent Songwriters Showcase at the Salmon Arm Art Gallery.
A Million Dollars in Pennies is a singer-songwriter duo from the Sunnybrae side of the lake, with Webster on guitar and Shaver on guitar and banjo.
Loosely defined under the ever-expanding ‘folk’ umbrella, they have recently recorded an album with Corwin Fox on Vancouver Island and are hoping to have it ready for purchase within the month.
Headliner Joel Plaskett, Canadian indie-folk-rock star follows with his upbeat musical take on life.
The concert is a benefit for the Shuswap Environmental Action Society to help raise funds for the eventual purchase of the Cottonwoods Campground, a former development near the mouth of the Adams River.
The event has been made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship from a number of local businesses. Tickets are still available at Acorn Music at 250-832-8669 or online at www.ticketbreak.com.
