A lively evening of rock, swing, pop and country on Saturday, May 17 will support the McMillan Arts Centre’s art and music programs in the community.
The Georgia Straits Elastic Band with special guests Colin Campbell and Gary Hodi will perform at the fundraising concert at the McMillan Arts Centre at 7 p.m. and people can get in on the fun for $10.
The Georgia Straits Elastic Band is made up of two singers, three horn players, a pianist, bassist, and a drummer. The group plays selections from the golden age of popular music along with some gems that have been written since that time. Their repertoire includes Ain’t She Sweet, Five Foot Two, Mack the Knife, Sweet Georgia Brown and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.
The Colin Campbell-Gary Hodi duo is a pair of seasoned musicians from the area who play well-known jazz standards. Campbell is a versatile musician playing the trumpet, flugelhorn and guitar. Hodi is well-known and respected for his sensitive piano playing and his outstanding vocals. Get tickets at the door or in advance from the McMillan Arts Centre at 133 McMillan Street.
