As part of BC Culture Days, taking place from Sept. 30 until Oct. 2, Elkford artist Katherine Russell is opening her studio to the public.

Her glass blowing studio will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Oct. 1, allowing for people to view how her work is made.

“I’m going to have works that are in progress so that people can see how it is made, where it is made, what it is made from, and then finished works as well to buy if they’d like,” she told The Free Press.

Along with the open house, Russell is hosting a workshop from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. that day, allowing people to try their hand at etching.

“It’s a glass etching workshop, so if people are interested in registering for that, that’s $34,” she said. “They would make two pint glasses or two wine glasses, and they would apply whatever pattern to it and then sand blast it and they could take it home that day.”

BC Culture Days is a province-wide initiative. For more information on the event, visit Bc.culturedays.ca.
