SURREY — Actors ranging in age from three to 78 will hit the stage during the seven-show run of “Puss in Boots” at Surrey Arts Centre.
Ellie King’s pantomime production opens Friday, Dec. 18 and continues at the Bear Creek Park main stage until Dec. 27.
“Our principal boy (the character Colin Miller, played by Carol Davison) is actually a school principal – don’t know if that’s ever happened before!” noted Ellie King, who wrote the Royal Canadian Theatre Company show, which is directed by James King.
This is the ninth year the company has staged a traditional panto show in Surrey.
In this family-friendly comedy, set in France during the rule of King Pom Pom of Pomerania, a poor widow’s son (Davison’s character) goes on an adventure with his enchanted pet cat. Along the way, he encounters Ogre Bonecruncher (Gareth Dyke), Tom Tom the Piper’s Son (Brad Dewar), a Fairy Queen (Lauren Trotzuk) and others.
Other actors in the show include Alan Cedargreen (as Widow Miller, the dame), Stephen Elcheshen (as Demon King), Crystal Weltzin (Anne Miller), Cayleigh Elcheshen (Little Puss), among many others.
