Elton John/Billy Joel tunes come to Langley stage

One performer plays musical tribute to two legends.

Blindfolded, music lovers could be convinced they were listening to the legendary Sir Elton John or fellow piano great Billy Joel.Remove the blindfold, watch Vancouver’s Ryan Langevin work his bold costumes, giant sunglasses, and stage antics as he hammers the keys and belts out tunes, and onlookers would still wonder.

Armed with a music degree and more than a decade of teaching piano, Langevin is now affectionally dubbed the Piano Man. And, he’s bringing his Tribute to Elton John and Billy Joel to the stage.

That show is being brought to Cascades Casino July 10, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $39.50 and available at 604-530-2211 or ticketweb.ca.

From his youth, Langevin has had a passion for the music of Elton John and Billy Joel.

It was their music – the likes of John’s Saturday Night, Pinball Wizard, Tiny Dancer, Daniel, Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock, Bennie and the Jets, and Candle in the Wind, or Joel’s My Life, You May Be Right, Tell Her About It, Don’t Ask Me Why, and She’s Always a Woman – that inspired him to hone his skills.

It’s a “must-see” show, said event promoter Rob Warwick. “Two legends, one stage. Where else can you see the two gods of rock piano on the same stage.
