Elvis fan alert!
Steve Elliott will be back at Royal Canadian Legion Branch #62 to recreate the raw and energetic charisma of the King of Rock and Roll – with plenty of hip-swivelling action, strong vocal range, and a medley of authentic and unique costumes created by his own private tailor.
The one-man show includes a full-band sound using computerized technology.
Elliott, who will be bringing his Elvis Elite show to Salmon Arm Saturday, June 23, adds something original to every performance.
Born and raised in Nanaimo, Elliott had many artistic abilities before stumbling upon his career as a singer and entertainer.
His mother, a talented artist in her own right, encouraged Elliott at a very young age to draw and be creative with expressions and originality.
He became a freelance cartoonist for the Vancouver Net chain of community papers and captured an award for best provincial cartoonist.
With no prior singing abilities, he walked into a karaoke contest at a local mall and was intrigued by the performances.
The contest parameters were set in the era of classic rock and early crooners.
Elliott decided to enter at the last minute, just for fun, and found that he had a natural ability to sing and entertain.
He did very well, winning a set of Elvis Presley CDs and embracing the rawness and sensuality in Elvis’ singing.
This led him to a career as a performer.
Since then, Elliott has perfected his act as a tribute artist, using the energy in the music of Elvis to share with people of all ages the memories and magic of the young Elvis.
Elliott was crowned the Top Canadian Tribute Act in 2004, 2005 and 2006 at the Pacific Northwest Elvis Festival in Penticton.
His performances have taken him throughout Canada and the U.S. for the last six years.
All seats for the June 23 show are reserved. Tickets are $20 per person and are available at the legion or by calling 250-832-3118.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show gets into high gear at 7.
