Christine Pilgrim and El Gusto plan to entertain families with stories, songs and silliness for a Christmas event at the Mackie Lake House in Coldstream on Dec. 22.

Enjoy a Mackie-style Christmas Carol

Christmas spirit rings from the rafters with stories, songs and silliness, desserts and festive treats at Coldstream's Mackie Lake House.

After their highly successful collaboration with Knights & Knonsense at Mackie Lake House in November, Christine Pilgrim (performer/director) and Christine Kashuba (Mackie house manager) have put their heads together and pooled their talents to offer a unique old-fashioned family Christmas event on Dec. 22 at 7 p.m.

Christmas spirit will ring from the rafters with stories, songs and silliness, delicious desserts and festive treats for everyone.

“Mr Fezziwig himself might even be there,” chuckles one of the Christines.

“And there’ll be a prize for the Victorian outfit we like the most,” says the other.

Guests will be greeted by, and invited to join carol singers as they are served hot chocolate before gathering round the fire in the 1910 drawing room to enjoy entertainment provided by Pilgrim and her young fellow artists — among them Daniel Mellows and El Gusto.

There will be take-home novelties to make and quizzes and games to play, just like those that the Mackie family enjoyed back in the early 1900s.

Because no family Christmas event would be complete without a visit from the Clauses, Pilgrim and Kashuba have arranged for Mrs. Claus to visit so she can deliver wishes to Santa.

To enjoy A Christmas Carol, Coldstream Mackie style, call Mackie Lake House at 250-545 -1019 or email  mackiehouse@shaw.ca. Cost is $25 per person or $80 per family (two adults and two children.) Seats sell fast so book early.
