If you like your jazz and blues with an ocean view, you won’t want to miss the Maureen Washington Quartet at VIU’s Deep Bay Marine Field Station May 16.
The jazz ensemble will open the annual summer concert series at the field station with a delightful mix of jazz and blues tunes while guests enjoy breathtaking views of Baynes Sound and feast on a gourmet dinner.
Stephanie Richards, Facilities Coordinator at Vancouver Island University’s (VIU) Deep Bay Marine Field Station says it will be an elegant event and they expect tickets to sell quickly.
Washington’s quartet, featuring Karel Roessingh on piano, Joey Smith on bass and Damian Graham on drums has played numerous sold out shows throughout BC.
With their unique fresh sound and interpretation of jazz and blues standards the band has a lively engaging show.
The sumptuous three course dinner prepared by resident Red Seal chef Lila Ruzicka includes Oyster Bienville or bacon mushroom quiche, seared marine harvest Atlantic salmon with mango salsa or citrus herb roast chicken.
Tickets are $60 each and must be purchased in advance. Call 250-740-6611 for reservations.
